About Us

Welcome to The Best Interests of the Child: Canadian Campaign For Equal Shared Co-Parenting. We are a child focused advocacy group dedicated to bringing meaningful reform to the Divorce Act with a rebuttable presumption of equal shared parenting at the onset of divorce or separation, in the absence of abuse, neglect or violence.

We believe Children's Best Interests are served by having Both Parents actively involved in their upbringing and that its a child's right to have the love and care of both parents after separation or divorce.

Our Mission

Our Mission

To ensure the wellbeing of our children and of our society, we advocate for Canadian legal reforms to enshrine equal shared co-parenting after divorce or separation in our laws. Our goal is to safeguard every child's right to the love of and access to both parents (barring mistreatment), and every parent's responsibility to care for, nurture and guide their child to develop to their fullest potential.

Advisory Council

A diverse representation of Canadian Society

The Canadian Equal Shared Co-Parenting Advisory Council membership is a diverse group of professionals and Canadian citizens. These members include social agency leaders, academics, family law experts, psychologists, people with lived experience of the family law system, as well as moral leaders in Canadian society such as clergy.

Together, they offer a nuanced and complete insight into the legal, social and health implications that divorce and custody issues have on children and their families.
